Why facial massage should be part of your skincare regime

Why facial massage should be part of your skincare regime

Posted by Phil Houghton on

At Velettà we take the view that facial massage is a vital component of an excellent skincare routine. So much so that we developed a massage ritual for our customers to use twice a day to increase circulation, decrease puffiness and help the absorption of Velettà products.

Our bespoke Enlivening and Uplifting Massage Ritual was designed by Lisa Perigo, a facialist and massage and Reiki practitioner with over 30 years-experience to add a meditative, relaxing element to your skincare ritual while benefiting your skin’s appearance.

The pressure applied during Velettà’s Massage Ritual should be at a level that feels comfortable for you. Different parts of your face will be differently sensitive so you will need to modulate your pressure accordingly. Also, be careful to use upward movements and be kind to your very delicate eye area. We suggest that you incorporate the massage ritual into your daily skincare regime.

The benefits of facial massage

Marie Claire magazine says "facial massage will work wonders on ageing or tired skin, from lifting and firming to calming and soothing."

There are over 40 muscles and 300 pressure points on the face and massaging those muscles and pressure points help lymphatic drainage, eliminating toxins. Better drainage rids the face of inert fluid which can hinder vitality and radiance.

Velettà’s massage ritual also helps to relax the muscles in your face which is important as tense facial muscles mean lines. Moreover, this type of self-care ritual helps relieve stress and anxiety, giving you an opportunity to shut out the world and enjoy some meditative moments.

Facial massage also increases circulation, bringing nutrients and oxygen to the skin cells and drawing blood to the surface resulting in radiant skin.

One of our favourite reasons to employ facial massage is that it helps Velettà Rejuvenating Oil or Nourishing Moisturiser penetrate the skin while keeping your face muscles toned, and skin lifted. Put simply, massage makes the skincare you apply more effective.

Its quick and easy

It only takes a few minutes twice a day to give your skin the gift of facial massage. Once you have been through the 10-steps a few times it will become automatic and you will reap the rewards of this luxurious self-care ritual.
